Australian singer-songwriter Mietta writes tender, earthy folk likened to "Joni Mitchell vibes" with a "sweet, strong and clear voice" (The Rockpit, AUS), carrying stories of place, kinship and belonging. She's shared stages with Pete Murray, Kim Churchill, Lior & Domini, and Charm of Finches. Praised by Matrescence Festival (AUS/UK) Director Claire Tonti for her ability to "alchemis[e] room[s]," Mietta offers emotional depth and clarity through her music. Her debut album, When The Water Stills, releases September 2026 - folk songwriting rooted in connection to people, story and place.

Mornington Peninsula Singer-Songwriter Mietta Releases Debut Album When The Water Stills, September 15
Mornington Peninsula, Bunurong Country VIC - Mietta releases her debut album, When The Water Stills, on September 15th. The album was made possible by a Mornington Peninsula Shire Performing Arts Development Grant, and unfolded as a two-year community project across the Peninsula region.
The grant funded four in-person gatherings, held in non-traditional, place-based venues, each built around a theme of human-nature connection: awe and gratitude, intergenerational wisdom among women, communing with people and place, and individual & collective responsibility. What began as a small local arts grant grew into a web of collaboration spanning musicians, storytellers, land stewards, and a wider community who gathered to deepen their community resilience and relationship with people, story and place.
Matrescence Festival Director Claire Tonti describes Mietta as an artist and community leader who "with her voice and her words, brings people together and reminds us to connect to our hearts, the land and each other."
Of the title track and album, Mietta says: "It's about patience and compassion, witnessing seasons change in our internal and external landscapes. It’s about belonging, and offering ourselves to the lands and waters we call home.”
The album was produced by Damian Cafarella (Riley Catherall, Gretta Ziller) at Ziggytown Studios and mastered by Josh Schuberth (Josh Pyke, Dustin Tebutt), featuring string arrangements by Ben Edgar (Gotye, Angus & Julia Stone, Missy Higgins) and Charlotte Jacke. Mietta has shared stages with Pete Murray, Kim Churchill, Lior & Domini, and Charm of Finches.
The grant also supported a four-part short film series releasing later this year with Darling Films, tracing the project's journey, documenting its reach across people, story, and place.
